Glass Dharma Straws Review and Giveaway (CLOSED)

Chances are one or several of us picked up a drink from one of our favorite fast food restaurants this past week and without thinking twice, we unwrapped the paper from the plastic straw, stuck it in the cup and enjoyed our drink. Americans alone use over 500 million plastic straws on a daily basis.  That is a lot of straws to be throwing away. We go through plenty of straws in our home and I have always bought the economy packs that contain around 200 straws and cost a little over $1.00 thinking I was saving our family money.  We never really thought about what happened after we discarded them and in the long run I really wasn't saving anything.

We are not a totally green family but we are trying to do our part to help out our world as much as we can.  That is why I was so excited when I came across Glass Dharma Straws.  What is Glass Dharma Straws?  I am glad you asked.....

Glass Dharma Straws are handmade in the United States and was created by David Leonhardt who saw the need to create one solution to the misuse of plastics in our society.
  • Glass straws don’t leach toxins into your food as you drink.
  • Each time you use your glass straw equals one less plastic straw ending up in your landfill.
  • One glass straw replaces thousands of plastic straws. (How many times will you use a straw the rest of your life?)
  • Using your glass drinking straw adds a feeling of beauty to your day.
  • Kid friendly and safe
  • Great for all hot or cold drinks
  • Perfect in specialty drinks – bubble teas, shakes and smoothies, iced drinks
  • Beautiful in cocktails – great accessory for any martini glass
  • Concerned about staining your teeth or decay? Use for wine, coffee and teas

I was very impressed when I opened my package from Dharma Glass Straws.  They sent me 4 different type straws, along with two cleaning brushes, and a carrying pouch.
These straws are very durable and backed by Glass Dharma's Lifetime Guarantee Against Breakage.

I had an opportunity to try these when my husband and I went out to eat on our anniversary, I took a couple of the straws with us to the restaurant.  When the waiter brought our drinks along with our plastic straws, I pushed the plastic to the side and pulled out one of the glass straws.  When he came back with our appetizers he saw the straw and inquired about it.  I told him about the company brought out one of the other glass straws for him to look at and immediately he showed it to some of the other staff. They were telling us how many straws they throw away every day and really liked the idea of a reusable straw.

Not only do I feel like we are making a small impact on our environment, but I feel like I am protecting my family as well by reducing the harmful chemicals from the use of the plastic straws.

These Glass Dharma Straws would make an elegant table place setting even more beautiful for the holidays or for dinner parties.

I am hooked!  No more plastic straws for my family!  Glass Dharma Straws range in price from $6-$10 for individual straws or you can buy them in sets.  Also available to purchase  are carrying cases and cleaning brushes (sold separately from straws) to help care of your glass straw.
