4 Ways to Avoid Holiday Stress

We all know that this time of the year brings on more stress than any other.  Why do we put more pressure on ourselves to make everything perfect?  Maybe because we are building upon the memories of holidays in our past.  Who knows.  All I do know though is that I am the Queen of Stress this time of year, especially when the in-laws come to visit.  Well, Parenting.com has listed 4 ways to avoid holiday stress.  What are some of the ways you avoid it?

Showering Daily. (What?)
Seriously. The air is drier in the winter, which means you need your skin's natural lubricants.

Spending More Time with Your Kids. (This is what the holidays are about)
It's good for your children to see their mom as someone who takes care of herself, whether that's heading to spin class or reading a book. Now you can say "Do as I do" and not feel guilty about that!

Cooking from Scratch (I tried this Thanksgiving...can you say disaster?)
You know why your great-grandmother made everything by hand? Because she had to! Duncan Hines cake mix didn't hit the market until the 1940s. Considering her practical streak, she'd applaud your use of premade piecrust, grocery delivery, and boxed soup.

A Spotless House (Only in my dreams)
Yes, there is such a thing as being too clean. A little bacteria doesn't necessarily hurt, especially for kids, whose immune systems need some exposure to germs in order to build up resistance. If you wipe down floors, sinks, and toilets-and change sheets every week or two-you're golden.

Time passes by fast enough without rushing through everything. Enjoy your holidays, relax, and spend time with the ones you love.

I am sooooo over trying to make things perfect. I have learned that its the imperfect things, the things that go wrong, that make the holidays memorable!
