How many times have you washed laundry, cleaned under the cushions, or vacuumed only to find loose change? Where does it come from? Why don't we miss it when we lose it? I watched an episode of Clean House (I know, but I can't help it) and when they cleared out the house they found over $6,000 in cash and loose change. I don't know about you, but I don't have that kind of money to forget about. My oldest son finally moved out and while packing his boxes, again, money and change started falling out of drawers, and clothes. We found more under the bed, and in the closet. There was enough for at least a month worth of groceries.........yes I did.....He voluntarily contributed back to his 21 years of non-stop eating.

We May Need A Bigger Jar |
Money is still popping up around the house, so I have figured out what I am going to do starting today July 30, 2010 and ending July 30, 2011. Every coin I find laying around the house is going to go into the "Da Cha Ching" Jar. On July 30, 2011, I plan on counting the money I have collected and then I am going to match that amount and give it to a charity of our choice.
I will update often to let you know how much we are collecting.
So far as of today $ 37.04
As promised I said whatever we had accumulated would be doubled and donated to charity. So $74.08 was donated to two charities dear to my families hearts. We donated half to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the other half to Alzheimer's Association.
We weren't able to take that much needed vacation and I am still slaving away at work, but in the end we learned the value of money. No matter how big or small of an amount, it can help to do some great things.

Man this is so true! I just need a jar to collect it when I find it so it doesn't get put somewhere to get lost again:)
Drum roll please...update the inquiring minds.
I have been updating it, my son will not let me forget......we are up to $15.00 now. Woohoo! For the inquiring minds you can always find the update at the bottom of the post. What do you think we will be up at the end of July 2011?
That is a very nice idea!
